M5 Performance

Built using third-gen 3nm technology, the M5 chip introduces a next-gen 10-core GPU architecture with a Neural Accelerator in each core, enabling GPU-based AI workloads to run dramatically faster, with over 4x the peak GPU compute performance compared to M4. The GPU also offers enhanced graphics capabilities and third-gen ray tracing to deliver up to 45 percent higher performance than M4. Add rearchitected second-gen dynamic caching and the GPU provides smoother gameplay, more realistic visuals in 3D applications, and faster rendering times for complex graphics projects and other visually intensive applications.

The 16-core Neural Engine drives Apple Intelligence features, making on-device AI powerful and energy efficient. On-device AI tools like Image Playground get faster, and the overall performance of Apple Intelligence models are enhanced by the faster Neural Engine and unified memory in M5. M5 offers unified memory bandwidth of 153GB/s, providing a nearly 30% increase over M4 and more than 2x over M1. The unified memory architecture enables the entire chip to access a large single pool of memory, which allows the MacBook Pro to run larger AI models completely on device.

14.2″ Liquid Retina XDR Display

Featuring mini-LED technology, this MacBook Pro houses a 14.2″ Liquid Retina XDR display. Delivering up to 1000 cd/m² of sustained, full-screen brightness, a high 1600 cd/m² of peak brightness, a 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio, and a billion colors, the Liquid Retina XDR display can handle the extreme dynamic range of HDR content, providing detailed shadows, brilliant specular highlights, deeper blacks, and vivid colors. The display is less than 4mm thin, which is achieved by having seven films and diffusers that mix and shape the light efficiently. The oxide thin film transistor (TFT) allows pixels to charge twice as fast as before.
